Ankaran Cemetery
01 / PROJECT DESCRIPTION
About the project
The cemetery is designed as a landscape park on a west-facing slope overlooking the Gulf of Trieste. It consists of five terraces cut into the hillside and connected by ramps. A total of 536 burial sites are arranged, including 110 traditional burial plots, 246 urn ground graves, and 180 spaces in a columbarium wall, as well as a designated scattering area for ashes. On the first terrace stands a farewell building covered by a large reinforced concrete slab with a circular opening in the ceiling. The project also includes the arrangement of an entrance square with a network of pedestrian paths and accompanying urban equipment, as well as the landscaping of a park forest north of the cemetery covering 6,900 m².
