Construction of an RO-RO Berth in Basin III
01 / PROJECT DESCRIPTION
About the project
The project included the construction of a new RO-RO berth for mooring RO-RO vessels and handling automobiles and trucks with trailers. The RO-RO ramp structure consists of steel piles with diameters of Ø812 mm and Ø2032 mm, connected by reinforced concrete beams supporting a rigidly connected reinforced concrete slab. A combined retaining pile wall with a continuous length of 118.89 m was constructed for coastal protection, consisting of circular piles Ø2032/22 mm and AZ 18-700 steel sheet piles, with an installation depth of up to 14.95 m below sea level. The project also included seabed dredging in the amount of 34,962 m³, preparation of the disposal area for excavated material, and installation of electrical and mechanical systems as well as cathodic protection.
