High tide sluices

We built high tide sluices to protect the salt pans from the water in the Piketo canal of the Sečovlje salt pans. The structure is built as a massive concrete construction standing on 53 wooden posts driven into the sea silt. The wall is made of carved stone blocks. The hydraulic sluices are modelled after the protective high tide sluice system used in Venice, Italy.
